STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING

TRAINING
A Stephen Minister completes 50 hours of training before ever meeting with a care receiver. He or she learns about listening, assertiveness, confidentiality, and many other aspects of giving care. After the initial training there is ongoing continuing education. This training also deepens the Stephen Minister’s personal relationships.
For details about our next training session please call the church at 303.690.2520.

GIFTS
A Stephen Minister is a person with the gift of mercy, who shows compassion and gives encouragement to and intercedes for those he or she cares for. Many Stephen Ministers say that they receive much more from the caring relationship than they give.

COMMITMENT
A Stephen Minister devotes time, energy and resources to this ministry. In return, they have the chance to participate in meaningful ministry and make a major difference in another person’s life.

DEDICATED SERVICE
This isn’t a casual ministry. It involves prayer, thought, consideration, study and commitment. In return, the Stephen Minister receives grateful thanks from their care receiver, our church and Jesus.

ACCOUNTABILITY
A Stephen Minister is accountable to God, SHV, Stephen Ministry Leadership, and their care receiver. In return they receive support, encouragement and guidance in their Peer Supervision Group.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING
Stephen Ministers are open to adjusting and adapting care giving to fit the needs of their care receiver. The continuing education that is provided monthly also hones their skills and opens new avenues of Christian care.
