A Story About Tithing

“I learned about giving from the book of Malachi. It says that when we do things God’s way, He will bless us. In fact, He promises us so much blessing that we won’t have room for it.

My husband and I agreed that giving to God needed to be a priority in our lives. We have been through several financial hardships in our fifteen years of marriage. Our most difficult time was when my husband lost his job and it took eight months for him to find a new one. We weren’t bringing in enough money to pay our bills, but decided giving to God was our most important financial obligation. We put God first and reduced our budget in other ways. On paper we still weren’t bringing in enough income to pay our bills, but amazingly, every bill was paid. Life’s circumstances can often provide many reasons not to give, but when we trusted God to provide, He did!

Our monthly tithe does so much [collectively] through our church. It helps those who are in need, supports missionaries overseas, and provides a place where people can come and experience the love of God. Giving can be a sacrifice, but considering Jesus gave His life for us, it is minimal in comparison.

If things have been financially difficult for you, try doing things God’s way; you will be amazed to see His ways work!”
