Q: Are these short-term trips really a vacation with a purpose?
A: No. They are more like a purpose without a vacation! Team members can expect a full schedule of servant-like ministry, regardless of the team location. Most teams will have a short window of sightseeing, just to catch their breath. But if for some reason it doesn’t happen, no apologies will be offered. That’s not why we are going.
Q: Will the church missions budget pay for my trip?
A: No. Our missions giving supports long-term workers in a variety of settings along with the projects that flow from their ministries. We can’t divert funds from our on-going commitments to pay for short-term trips. You will need to raise the money for your trip from personal funds and the support of others in your small group or area of ministry. All giving toward short-term trips should be above and beyond the tithe.
Q: What will our teams do on the fields where they serve?
A: That will be different for every team, as you can see from the ministry focus section of the 2006 trip details. But one common thread will flow from each trip: we will work with our hosts to find ways to minister the power of God’s kingdom with the goal of reaching the lost and helping churches grow.
Q: How are team members selected?
A: Every team member will be required to complete a short-term mission team application. The mission's team, team leaders, and pastoral staff will review these applications and select the people for each team.
Q: What if a short-term mission trip is not for you? Where else can you serve?
The NET is our local outreach to people in need. Weekly we deliver or provide food and other goods in the Denver metro area. The NET is a great place to "get your feet wet" and take the first step toward serving out of your comfort zone right here at home. Throughout the year we have opportunities to impact people with God's love through concerts and service/evangelism opportunities.
